Kathmandu . SAIC MAXUS, China with its official dealer partner for Nepal, Himalaya Motrox Pvt. Ltd demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian support in Nepal, has announced a relief initiative worth approximately NPR 8 million for communities affected by the recent disaster.
As part of the initiative, SAIC MAXUS has contributed NPR 5 million (NPR 50 lakhs) in financial assistance, with the cheque formally handed over to the Honourable Finance Minister of the Government of Nepal.
The contribution forms part of SAIC MAXUS’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at supporting immediate relief efforts and helping affected families recover from the consequences of the disaster.
In addition to the financial contribution, relief materials worth approximately NPR 3 million (NPR 30 lakhs) have already been procured for direct distribution in some of the affected areas.
A relief team representing SAIC MAXUS, in coordination with Himalaya Organization and Himalaya Motrox Pvt. Ltd., will reach the identified locations on 3 September 2026 to carry out the distribution and installation program.
Solar-Powered Safe Drinking Water Support
A major component of the relief initiative will be the installation of two solar-powered water filtration and purification plants at temporary shelter locations accommodating hundreds of displaced families.
One solar-powered water purification plant will be installed at Shree Bhairom Primary School, which is currently being used as a temporary shelter for approximately 300 families affected by the disaster.
Another unit will be installed at Yugjyoti Primary School, Bidur Municipality, where approximately 200 families are presently taking temporary shelter.
The water purification solution is designed to provide a sustainable source of safer drinking water for families staying at the shelters, with a purification capacity of up to 1,000 litres of water per day.
Additional Relief Materials
Alongside the water purification facilities, the relief distribution program will include essential materials required by affected families, including:
- Bed mattresses and sleeping materials
- Medical essentials and basic healthcare supplies
- Essential food supplies
- Clothes and other basic necessities
The immediate distribution package is being prepared to directly support at least 100 individuals, while the installation of the water purification facilities is expected to provide continuing assistance to the larger communities currently residing at the two temporary shelters.
Through this initiative, SAIC MAXUS aims to go beyond immediate financial assistance by providing practical and sustainable support directly to communities where it is most urgently required.
